The Department of Biology, in collaboration with the School of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, alongside partner institutions including the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens (BRFAA), the Hellenic Pasteur Institute (HPI), the Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming” (BSRC Fleming), the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (E.KE. F.E. DEMOKRITOS), and the National Research Foundation, jointly organize and operate the Master’s Program “Athens International Master’s Programme in Neurosciences” for the academic year 2025-2026.
Application Period:
Interested graduate students are invited to submit the required documents during the application period, which spans from May 4th, 2026, to May 29th, 2026.
Extension of the Application Period:
The deadline for applications to the Athens International Master’s Programme in Neurosciences is extended to June 6th, 2025
Eligibility
The program welcomes graduates from domestic Universities and Higher Technological Institutes, as well as graduates from recognized equivalent institutions abroad, to submit their candidacy for enrollment. The program has the capacity to accept a maximum of 30 students.
Candidate Evaluation and Selection Process
The assessment process considers a range of documents, as well as performance in both the interview and the examinations.

Exams
The examinations will be conducted via an electronic platform on July 1st, 2026 Students will not be required to travel to Athens. Written exams will be administered to evaluate students’ fundamental knowledge in cell biology and neuronal physiology through multiple-choice questions.
3.
Interviews
The interviews for selected candidates will occur between July 8th and 10th, 2026, either in-person or via the WEBEX platform.
For students from foreign institutions, it is essential to ensure the recognition of their Academic Titles following acceptance to the program. According to Law 4485/17, a Postgraduate Diploma is not awarded to a student whose first degree from a foreign institution has not been recognized by the Interdisciplinary Organization of Recognition of Academic Titles and Information (Διεπιστημονικό Οργανισμό Αναγνώρισης Τίτλων Ακαδημαϊκών και Πληροφόρησης (Δ.Ο.Α.Τ.Α.Π.), as per Law 3328/2005 (A 80).
Acceptance of Foreign Students:
For foreign students to be accepted:
A.
The institution that awarded their degree must be included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Higher Education Institutes.
B.
The institution that awarded their degree must be included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Academic Title Types.
If the above criteria do not apply, students have to write to masterneuro[at]biol.uoa[dot]gr to discuss this issue and initiate the process of recognition.

Students from abroad
will register upon their arrival in Athens, following the completion of all processes required to obtain a Visa. Therefore, they do not need to worry in advance.
