Call for applications
The Department of Biology, in collaboration with the School of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, alongside partner institutions including the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens (BRFAA), the Hellenic Pasteur Institute (HPI), the Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming” (BSRC Fleming), the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (E.KE. F.E. DEMOKRITOS), and the National Research Foundation, jointly organize and operate the Master’s Program “Athens International Master’s Programme in Neurosciences” for the academic year 2025-2026.
Extension of the Application Period:
The deadline for applications to the “Athens International Master’s Programme in Neuroscience”, Academic Year 2026-2027, has been extended until Friday, June 5th 2026, 24:00.
Two Application Periods:
Application Periods and Admission Schedule
Prospective students interested in joining the Athens International Master’s Programme in Neurosciences are invited to apply during one of the following two application periods.
A. First Application Period: January 6–29, 2027
This application period is particularly recommended for international applicants who require a visa to enter Greece and pursue their studies. Applying early allows sufficient time for visa processing, travel arrangements, and relocation to Athens before the beginning of the academic year.
- Application deadline: January 29, 2027
- Written examinations: February 15–17, 2027
- Interviews: March 1–2, 2027
B. Second Application Period: May 7–28, 2027
This application period is open to all eligible prospective students wishing to apply for admission to the Programme.
- Application deadline: May 28, 2027
- Written examinations: June 29, 2027
- Interviews: July 8–10, 2027
Start of the Academic Year
The academic programme will commence on September 20, 2027. All admitted students are expected to make the necessary arrangements to arrive in Athens and be ready to begin their studies on this date.
Important note for international applicants: Applicants who require a visa to study in Greece are strongly encouraged to apply during the first application period. Early application provides additional time to complete visa procedures and make the necessary travel and accommodation arrangements before the start of the Programme.

Eligibility
The program welcomes graduates from domestic Universities and Higher Technological Institutes, as well as graduates from recognized equivalent institutions abroad, to submit their candidacy for enrollment. The program has the capacity to accept a maximum of 30 students.
Candidate Evaluation and Selection Process
The assessment process considers a range of documents, as well as performance in both the interview and the examinations.

Exams
Written exams will be administered to evaluate students’ fundamental knowledge in cell biology and neuronal physiology through multiple-choice questions.
Written exams will take place on two different dates, depending on the application period selected by the applicants.
- First application period (January 6–29, 2027): Written exams will be held on February 15-17, 2027.
- Second application period (May 7–28, 2027): Interviews will be held on June 29, 2027.

However, to reduce your stress and confirm that all will function properly we ask you also to participate in a trial TEST EXAMINATION that will take place few days earlier; you will be informed.
Interviews
Interviews will take place on two different dates, depending on the application period selected by the applicants.
- First application period: Interviews will be held on March 1–2, 2027.
- Second application period: Interviews will be held on July 8–10, 2027.

Recognition of Academic Titles:
Acceptance of Foreign Students:
The institution that awarded their degree must be included in the National Registry of Foreign Recognized Academic Title Types.

Registration Procedure
Registration to the program will take place from Monday, September 7th to Friday, September 18th, 2026. The procedure and requirements are described in the file entitled.

Students from abroad
will register upon their arrival in Athens, following the completion of all processes required to obtain a Visa. Therefore, they do not need to worry in advance.
